Asseria, 5 godina istraživanja (1998.-2002.)

The Liburno-Roman city of Asseria attracted the attention of archaeologists during the 19th century, becaus of its impressive Hellenistic city-wall and numerous public buildings and funeral monuments, as well as rich grave finds of Liburnian Late Iron Age and Roman period. Asseria was first excavated and the results published by Austrian archaeologists before the World War I. Since then many new finds were documented but the site was devastated (particularly during the war 1991-1995 in Croatia). In 1998, the Arcaeological museum at Zadar, together with the Department of Archaeology of the Zadar University have begun to excavate the site. This book presents new discoveries, dating from the Late Iron Age to the 6th-7th century AD, when the city was abandoned.
