Sažetak
The paper presents modern methods for engine and vehicle real time simulations. In the program AVL Boost, a virtual model of spark ignited passenger car engine with the power of 52 kW is made, and its drive and energy characteristics are calculated. Thereafter a model for simulating the engine performance in dynamic driving conditions is developed, using energy and drive characteristics of the engine together with drive characteristics of the vehicle. The model is made in such a way that it can follow a specified drive cycle, and can calculate fuel consumption for that cycle. The results of fuel consumption that are obtained by following the standard European drive cycle, used in homologation regulations, are compared with the measured fuel consumption of similar real vehicles. The engine behaviour for several different drive cycles, which represent different driver types, is calculated by using this model. These results are used in the analysis of driver type influence on vehicle fuel consumption.
