The piecewise full decoupling method - an extension of piecing the exact solutions
Many mechanical systems experience relative motion across the clearance space and impacting between the components. The equations of motion of such systems include abrupt variation of stiffness which can be approximated as piecewise linear. The most commonly used methods for solving piecewise linear equations of motion are the classical numerical time integration, the harmonic balance method, the incrementalharmonic balance method and the finite element in time method. The piecewise full decoupling method is a new developed procedure of explicit integration. The method is extension of the well-known method of piecing the exact solutions
