The Influence of Temperature and C/SiO2 Molar Ratio of the Conversion Extent of SiO2 to alpha-Si3N4 Using Carbothermal Preparation
Carbothermal reduction and nitridation of SiO2 is one of the most important silicon nitride preparation procedures. In case the manufacturer of a ceramic product does not put a high request on inition powder quality, the carbothermal reduction and nitridation of silica is claimed to be the best production procedure. Preparation temperature and CSiO2 molar ratio belong to the key preparation parameters an which the extent of silica to silicon nitride conversion is significantly dependent. It is stated in the article that in the given experimental conditions the preparation optimal temperature span was 1500-1550C and the optimal CSiO2 molar ratio was 4.5.
