Landscape planning in the era of globalisation
Globalisation is an ambiguous process even within the landscape planning discourse. All the inhabitants of the planet have the right to take advantage of technological developments and to improve their living conditions, thus environmental physical change is inevitable. Landscape conservation seems to be the activity that should accompany the process of globalisation and landscape planning is traditionally connected to the conservation idea. Conservation itself can be a globalisation feature within landscapes (1) due to the standardisation of the environmental load as a consequence of the equalising of the production conditions and (2) due to the intention that the similar conservation models are applied in very different situations. The answer to these challenges should be searched for within landscape planning as an activity that always starts from the analysis of the local peculiarities and implies the creative efforts of the planners. The role of the science within landscape planning is to develop new methods of landscape analysis, as well as new ideas within the most uncertain landscape planning activity, i.e. elaboration of suitable solutions.
