A New Method for the Definition of Particle Size Distribution
A new method for the definition of the three-dimensional size distribution of spherical particles is presented. It can use two types of initial information-intercept length or plane section diameter size distribution. It is useful for any kind of size scale with the unrestricted size group number. The method can be corrected for nonspherical particles. Experimental checking confirmed its correctness for spherical particles. The important advantage of this method is that it allows to simulate different kinds of particles diameters size distribution and to calculate their plane section diameter or intercept length size distribution. The simulation shows that two- and one-dimensional measurements can not give true informations on the real three-dimensional size distribution and therefore it is necessary to use the stereological methods of three-dimensional reconstruction for the determination of the particle size distribution.
