Average Annual Drying Out of Streamflows in the Croatian Karst

Introductorily, the geographical position of Dinaric is stated and its basic characteristics described, in general as well as in Croatia. Basic precipitation and hydrological characteristics have been presented and compared with the relevant values in neighbouring non-karst regions. In general, precipitation distribution during a year has been commented as well as its influence to low waters and low-water periods. In the paper the regional analysis of characteristic hydrological parameters of the streamflows drying out regularly every year in the region of Dinaric karst in Croatia have been described. The correlations of characteristic parameters describing annual drying out of the streamflows have been analysed as well as the relations of these parameters with the characteristic parameters of average annual discharges. The derived general relations with the coefficients of correlation r > 0, 80 for the drying out karst streamflows have been compared with the similar relations defined in the regional analysis or representative drainage basins of the Dinaric karst in Croatia &#8211 ; where characteristic profiles of karst streamflows that do and of those that do not dry out have been analysed.
