Mathematical Modelling Of PRODAN Participation In Solutions of Serum HDL and Ethanol

Membrane probe Prodan was used to follow the changes introduced in the structure of lipid moiety of human serum HDL upon addition of different amounts of ethanol. Prodan partioning in solvent and phospholipids monolayer of HDL and its fluorescence behaviour is highly sensitive on the microenvironmental polarity and fluidity. We followed the changes in fluorescence resonance energy transfer from tryptophan to Prodan and changes of Prodan steady-state anisotropy in solutions of different ethanol concentrations.
