Sažetak
The dissociation constants of the two oxime groups of 1, 1&#8217 ; ; -bis(pyridinium-4-aldoxime)trimethylene dibromide (TMB-4), a potent reactivator of the acetylcholinesterase inhibited by organophoshorus poisons, were determined from spectrophotometric data. Two numerical methods were used to treat the existing overlapping equilibria. The obtained results were in good agreement and their mean values at 25 oC corrected for the ionic strength of 0.05 M are pKa1 = 7.49 and pKa2 = 8.96. These values are discussed in terms of the pKas of 1, 1&#8217 ; ; -bis(pyridinium 4-aldoxime)oxydimethylene dichloride (Toxogonin), a similar dioxime, also known as an acetylcholinesterase reactivator, which were derived by extrapolation of literature data.
