Optical Characteristic of Prints Exposed to Natural and Accelerated Ageing
Exposure of paper to electromagnetic radiation includes the specific results which are infuenced by both intenal and external factors. External factors during irradiation and subsequent storage include atmospheric conditions: wevelength ofirradiaton, temperature, humidity and pollutions. Intrnal factors relate to chemical composition of the paper (acidity, carbonyl grups, content of hemicellulose, extractives and lignin) and of the ink (pigment, additives, vegetable or mineral oil) printed on the paper. Earlir investigations examined only the substrate, without the ink on it. In this paper optical characteristic of the offset prints exposed to natural and accelerated ageing are presented. The relative reflection has been measured using X-Rite's Digital Swatchbook Spectrophotometer. Our investigation resuls will contribute to better knowledge of the influence of kind of printing substrate on ageing mechanisms and some optical characteristic of prints.
