Wearing of the cutting wedge due to heat and mechanical load
During the particle separation treatment process, very complex conditions appear in the cutting area. The complexity is apparent in the presence of high specific loads - pressures and hifh level of warmth. The cutting edge of the tool and cutting wedge are exposed to mechanical and heat loads, resulting in a gradual damaging - wearing, chipping or breakong of the tool. Cutting wedge wear, material creeping, mechanical loads and an increased heating level considerably influece the change of the shape of the cutting wedge and of the cutting geometry. Operating of a tool is, practically, a probability process. The paper provides research results on the wear of the cutting edge and cutting wedge when scraping hard-treatable construction materials.
