Mobility management between wireless IPv6 networks

This paper deals with mobility management between wireless IPv6 networks. It presents the Mobile IPv6 and its extensions that have been proposed to reduce the handover latency and the number of lost packets. Three extensions are analyzed: Fast Handover, Bicasting and Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 to show how these protocols can be used to solve the problems of handover latency and packet loss. In order to overcome the disadvantages of these protocols, it is possible to combine them to improve the handover performance. Advantages that can be obtained by combining these three protocols are discussed.
