Experimental and numerical postbuckling analysis of thin elastic plates

Thin elastic plates subjected to in plane loading exhibit stable equilibrium branches in the post buckling load domain.This paper shows the results of numerical and experimental analysis of the behaviour of thin elastic steel plates subjected to uni-directional loading. The experimental and theoretical analysis were performed for plates with two boundary conditions.Experimental finding confirms the known theoretical result, that the bearing capacity of thin elastic plates could be used in the postbuckling domain.
