Wave numbers and Ar pressure-induced shifts of 198Hg atomic lines measured by Fourier Transform Spectroscopy
Wavelengths and collision induced line-shifts of 198Hg emission lines due to argon pressure were measured using Fourier transform spectroscopy technique. The measurements are made with electrodeless lamps containing 198Hg and argon buffer gas at pressures 33, 400, 933 and 1333 Pa. Calibration of the FTS wave number scale was obtained with the wavelengths of four prominent 198Hg lines (365.1 nm, 404.8 nm, 436 nm, and 546.2 nm). The measured wavelengths of the 198Hg emission lines in 400 Pa (3 Torr) and/or 33 Pa (1/4 Torr) lamps can be used as calibration standards for wavelength scale calibration in ICP spectrochemical analysis or in experiments where medium resolution monochromators are used.
