Revisiting authenticity in business English: Mediating cross-cultural knowledge through literary texts
The paper sets out to explore the possibility of introducing literary texts as an authentic methodological tool for mediating cross-cultural knowledge that fits the needs of business English students. The main aims of the paper are: (1) to provide methodological and pedagogical rationale for embedding content-specific literary texts in business English classes, (2) to argue that this approach can stimulate students both cognitively and affectively, and (3) to determine that using literary texts in business English can help non- language majors grasp the increasing complexities of ongoing changes on the international business and cultural map.
