Strategic issues of small, medium and large enterprises in a transition economy : an empirical study

The strategic issues represent the basis of successful development and prosperity of an enterprise. It is especially important for the enterprises influenced by the process of transition, which run business in a very turbulent and uncertain environment. In this paper we show the strategic issues of small, medium and large Croatian enterprises according to the study of 139 enterprises. The mission, the objectives and the strategies of the enterprises are being analyzed, as well as their relation to the competition, the width of assortment, the market position, the relation to the strategy of cost leadership and the strategy of differentiation, the main internal weaknesses and strengths and the adequacy of the actual organizational structure as regards the actual strategy of the enterprise and the business conditions.
