Mikrosfere kao dostavljači lijeka pri liječenju tumora kosti

Microspheres are considered promising tools as drug delivery systems for bone tumor treatment. In the lecture were presented two different methods of the preparation of microspheres: emulsion w/o and electrospraying. Also, the latest research on chitosan-based material preparation for application in bone engineering was presented. The focus was on the natural polymer chitosan, which is biocompatible, biodegradable, and non-toxic. Furthermore, chitosan possesses an ability to complex with metal ions, such as copper (II) and zinc (II) ions, which makes it a promising material for drug delivery. In the lecture were highlighted challenges in the determination of optimal process parameters and procedures for the preparation of chitosan-based complex microspheres, as well as challenges during a drug loading and release process.
