Models for integration of Croatian intangible cultural heritage into the tourism supply
Intangible cultural heritage has transformed itself increasingly into tourism products since the establishment of the UNESCO Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008. Croatia recognised the cultural value of its intangible heritage early on, which is confirmed by 18 listed assets on one of the three lists under the UNSECO’s protection. The aim of the research is to develop models for the integration of Croatian intangible cultural heritage protected by UNESCO into the tourism supply. For this purpose, Croatian intangible cultural assets are divided into four categories: 1) knowledge and skills, 2) musical expressions, 3) customs, rituals and traditional manifestations, and 4) traditional crafts. The model proposed for each category is based on the tourist motivation and the main activities that intangible cultural heritage can stimulate in tourists, as well as on the tourism products through which intangible cultural assets can be included in the tourism supply of destinations.
