Youth Lost in Time: Educating for Values in Contemporary Society

The formation of values is influenced by numerous elements such as the individual's personality traits, the process of socialization, belonging to particular groups, etc. This should be taken into account when studying ways of adopting values. It is well known that different notions of values intertwine in contemporary society and inevitably clash. Therefore, the authors highlight hierarchies of values that manifest themselves through different emphases in the practice of values. In order to better understand youth values in contemporary society, a questionnaire was conducted on a sample of young adults aged 18 to 30. Our research showed that youth valued self- direction, benevolence, and universalism in the highest and power, tradition and conformism in the lowest.
