Religious Education from the Perspective of Intercultural Dialogue in Italy, Finland and Croatia – a Comparative Approach
The topic of this paper is religious education in Europe, notably in Italy, Finland and Croatia, with special regard to intercultural dialogue. It consists of three chapters. In the first two chapters, authors contextualise the status of religion and religious education in European countries, most notably the Eu. Based on the analysis of relevant European documents, the basic features and tendencies of the Eu educational policy are indicated in relation to religious education and the status of religion in European societies. The second chapter presents “identity cards” of religious education in Italy, Finland and Croatia based on the analysis of the Religious Education subject curricula in those countries. In the third chapter, the authors present their final considerations derived from the comparison of religious education in Italy, Finland and Croatia. The focus is put on the similarities and differences of Religious Education in Croatia in relation to the same school subject in Italy and Finland.
