Ontology Based Search for Distributed Agent Platforms
Information search is a common form of human activity, which certainly represents the predominant activity in an information infrastructure. Its improvement thus substantially contributes to a better human computer interaction. Information search lands itself to augmentation by using a promising new technology basing on agents and ontologies. An agent-based search provides a distributed process and offers the users freedom in accessing the search results. Ontologies, on the other hand, provide context to a search thus improving queries. This paper describes a simple search system based on the previously mentioned principles, with document descriptions expressed using RDF. It consists of three components, including a user interaction one, a mediator and a number of agent environments distributed among information providers.
agent supported interaction augmentation; mediator enabled information search; ontology based document description; overcoming productivity paradox; RDF
