Application of transformed area section method in bending analysis of thin-walled laminated composite beams with symmetrical open sections and shear influence

In this study analytic model developed for bending analysis of thin-walled laminated composite beams with open sections and with constant elastic properties is applied in the analysis of beams with variable elastic properties over the cross-section area. Transformed area section method is used to obtain equivalent beam with constant elastic properties. Comparisons with the FEM calculations and with the results obtained by analytic model developed for beams with variable elastic properties have shown the efficiency of applied method.
