Selecting IoT Communication Technologies for Sensing in Agriculture
Currently, the 2G mobile network in the world is shutting down and the existing implementations that used it for sensing should be replaced by new technologies. This paper analyzes new technologies and selects the best IoT (Internet of Things) communication options for creating small and medium networks of sensor devices in different physical environments and communication conditions in the agriculture. The paper analyzes NB-IoT, Cat-M1, LoRaWAN, WiFi, 3G/4G in terms of subscription price, communication capabilities, ease of use, etc. The best configuration is defined for different use cases.
