Implementation of the BAT concept in the cement industry
The BAT concept is defined as well as its implementation in the cement industry. Processes for reducing the emission of hazardous gases in the cement industry, which are also utilized as part of the BAT implementation in other industries, are extensively described. The comparison between selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) as secondary processes for lowering NO_x emissions is characterized. Flame cooling, low NO_x burners and staged combustion as the primary NO_x reduction techniques are covered. It is presented how the activated carbon addition and implementation of wet scrubber reduces SO_x emissions. Fabric filters, electrostatic precipitators (ESPs), or a mix of both, known as hybrid filters, are analyzed technologies for reducing dust emissions The approaches of reducing energy consumption, demands for usage of alternative fules and optimizing working conditions, as an example of its overall contribution to greater cement production effectiveness and minimizing adverse effects on the environment are highlighted.
