Experimental and numerical investigation of engine characteristics running on gasoline- hydrogen mixture
The paper presents the results of simulation and experimental validation of a spark- ignition engine complying. An indirect hydrogen supply system was installed for testing purposes. During experimental investigation, load was adjusted with dynamometer, and cylinder pressures as well as other influence working parameters where recorded. An engine model was developed and validated with experimental data. Over the entire speed range, the maximum percentage error of the torque matching is less than 10%. The model accurately reflects the performance of the real engine. Several simulations and validation with experimental data were obtained. Test results show a proportional reduction of the torque value under the influence of increasing the hydrogen addition. The maximum gradient is approx. 7 Nm and occurs in the mid-speed range.
