ASSESSMENT OF WORKLOAD IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL SEWING PROCESS

In the technological sewing process, the work is performed in a sitting position with frequent loading of the lumbar and cervical spine, and high dynamics of the sequence of hand movements of short perform lengths and continuous control of the sewing machine pedal. The work is performed in the central field of view with the necessary high degree of visual focus with the worker controlling the distance of the seam line from the workpiece edge, the mutual alignment of the workpiece edges and the length of the joint to the end of the seam. The paper investigates the workload of the worker when performing the technological operation of sewing the back seam of the sleeve lining at the workplace equipped with the universal sewing machine. The ErgoFellow computer system with RULA (Rapid Upper Limb Assessment) and REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) moduli was used to investigate the worker's workload. The RULA and REBA methods are suitable for analysing the load of workers in the processes of clothing production, as they examine the load of the spine, head, arms (upper arm, forearm, hand) and legs. By analysing the posture and load of the worker when performing the technological sewing operation in a sitting position using RULA and REBA method, it was found that the sitting working posture of the worker is unfavourable, and the incorrect posture and angles of the spine, neck and arms lead to excessive workload. According to the analysis and assessment of the worker's workload during the technological operation, it is necessary to redesign the workplace, which would reduce the proportions of time of unfavourable postures of the worker's body.
