A case history of large strain consolidation

The embankment on the island Pag was built on a very soft clayey seabed in 1978. During the construction and after its completion, the embankment underwent extensive settlement. The paper presents the results of recently performed field and laboratory studies to analyse the monitored settlements and to predict future consolidation process. The comparison of the calculated and measured settlements is given.
