Sustainability of wet textile processes
Important part of any sustainability strategy in the textile and apparel industry is to work towards the largest and most comprehensive circular economy, which includes a high percentage of recycled chemicals, reused water and energy recovery. Chemicals applied in textile wet processes i.e. textile colorants, auxiliaries, and detergents make possible to meet the requirements of the modern market. However, some of them can be harmful to human health and/or the environment. This paper gives a review of the possibilities for improving wet textile processes in the context of the sustainability through the presentation of the aims of the Erasmus+ project “Sustainable Design and Process in Textiles for Higher Education“ (GreenTEX). The implementation of this goal, through expanding the knowledge in this field using innovative didactic methods in the field of product design and processes.
