Investigation of the possibility of binding cationized β-cyclodextrin on cotton fabric
For achieving permanent treatment of cellulose substrates i.e. cotton with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) it is necessary to low the electronegative barrier between the reactants. For this reason, the cationization of βCD was carried out with the addition of 50% cationic agent Rewin OS to the mass of β- CD (β- CD-ROS). The standard cotton fabric (CO) was treated with an aqueous solution of the β-CD-ROS by the pad-dry method having wet pick up 100%. The treated samples were aged for 72 h and then treated with microwaves at 80% power for 15 min. After that, it was squeezed and dried at 110 °C for 2 min and thermocondensed at 150 °C for 5 min. Samples was subjected to the care process according to the standard EN ISO 6330:2012. Physico-chemical changes of the samples were investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and electrokinetic analyzer (EKA). Mechanical and structural properties were researched in accordance to standardized methods as well.
