Structural analysis of RO-RO ship according to Lloyd's Register rules for direct calculation
The paper discusses and highlights the basic challenges and the most important aspects in the structural design and analysis of large RO-RO ship using ULJANIK shipyard Newbuilding 531-532 as an example. Two main structural problems have been evaluated in detail: (1) hull girder longitudinal strength, due to large openings in the in upper part of side shell ; (2) transverse/racking strength, due to absence of transverse bulkheads in the upper hull part.
