The article defines the theoretical and methodological principles of the introduction of innovative educational technologies in the training of higher education applicants. Attention is paid to the substantiation of the patterns of application of innovative activities and technologies. Definitions of key concepts from the problem have been clarified: innovation, technology, method, educational technology, pedagogical technology. Systematicity, efficiency, optimality, algorithmicity, diagnosticity, and reproducibility are singled out as criteria for the quality of education when applying these technologies. The main stages of the implementation of innovative educational technologies are the entire formation, formulation, implementation of the technological process, evaluation and correction of the results. The classification of innovative educational technologies, the description of the algorithm for the use of simulation technologies and game technologies as their variety has been carried out. The specifics of training a teacher of a higher education institution for the use of mixed and distance learning technologies have been determined.
