Spiele als didaktisches Mittel zur Entwicklung der Fertigkeit Sprechen im Daf-Unterricht
The author gives an overview about the history, role and goals of using didactic games in teaching process with emphasize on foreign language teaching and especially on development of speaking skills. The analysis of three game-books for German teaching by German authors (Handeln und Sprechen im Deutschunterricht ; Mit Spielen Deutsch lernen ; Spielend Deutsch lernen) aims to identify the games appropriate for developing speaking skills of the learners in Croatian elementary schools (grade 1-8). Applying the methodology of qualitative and quantitative research the author analyses the games represented in the selected books along the criteria of speaking forms (monological, dialogical), skill level (reproduction, reconstruction, production) and applicability in different phases of the foreign language lesson (introduction, preparation, presentation, repetition, free language use ect.). The analysis has schown that the most appropriate game-book for the elementary school learners of German is "Spielend Deutsch lernen" but the other two game books also contain different games applicable in German teaching at this level.
