Comment on "Langmuir adsorption isotherms of overpotentially deposited hydrogen at poly-Au and Rh/H_2SO_4 aqueous electrolyte interfaces. Qualitative analysis using the phase-shift method" (J. Electrochem. Soc., 150, E207 (2003)).
The so called "Phase-shift method" that has been recommended in the literature as a novel and simple technique for study of adsorption isotherms is criticised. A brief analysis of impedance spectra of poly-Au and Rh/H_2SO_4 electrodes showed that phase-shifts are initiated not only by potential dependence of adsorption impedance, but by other system impedances also.
