Erector Spinae Plane Block in the Emergency Department: a review
The erector spinae plane block is a relatively novel technique, first described in 2016. Since then, its utility has been recognized by practitioners of regional anaesthesia and the indications for its use have significantly expanded. One of the places where the Erector Spinae Plane Block has the widest degree of utility is the Emergency Department, where it has been used for managing various painful conditions including, but not limited to, renal colic, pancreatitis, appendicitis, low back pain, headaches etc. This review aims to summarize the available clinical evidence on the various applications of the Erector Spinae Plane Block and their efficacy in the Emergency Department.
