Evaluating the Effectiveness of Online Learning for Undergraduate and Graduate Studies of Electrical Engineering
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, lectures and exercises at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Zagreb University of Applied Sciences were switched from face-to-face (F2F) to synchronous online. This seemingly emergency measure has been going on for four semesters and has brought many challenges but also provided an opportunity to evaluate the present state and define guidelines for further steps. The paper develops criteria for the effectiveness of education in terms of quality and tempo of acquired knowledge. The obtained values of the defined criteria for online education were analyzed and compared with the results for F2F mode of education. In addition, efficiency of learning was examined via defined key performance indicators. Finally, a proposal for the preparation of targeted presentation methods and types of educational content is given in order to achieve greater student motivation and better exam results.
