Theory-Based Design Team Behaviour Simulation Using the FBS Ontology

The success of many design activities depends on the characteristics, experiences, complementarity of knowledge, and communication, collaboration and coordination processes of a group of individuals with a common goal – a design team. However, studying teams and predicting team performance is hampered by the complexity of interactions between team members, by continuous change, learning and adaptation of team members, and by various disruptions affecting team structure or objectives. A computational system comprising cognitively rich agents was developed and its capability to facilitate studies on teams has been demonstrated. The presented computational system can be used to match or enrich the findings of research which utilises FBS ontology.
