Developing smart social services for mending the gap in development inequalities
Deprived communities are underserved communities lacking many basic services. Developing smart social services is a difficult task due to increasing demands, lack of available and existing experts, changing priorities, an absence of strategic planning and weak inter-sector cooperation along with a lack of information. Overall, local services should reach end users through outreach programs. Experts are required to assist in achieving administrative objectives, while relevant pro-grams should be based on existing resources. This involves continually developing partnerships in order to facilitate coordination and information sharing. Deprived communities are often remote, opening up the potential of utilising technology to bridge the digital divide while making services more accessible. A lack of resources means that social services require a holistic approach, whereas specific services requiring specialised skills may be provided as e-services or in other alternative ways. Social work directed towards human rights and based on the concept of empowerment and social capital values offers new capabilities and know- how in communities, enabling citizens to cope with personal, family and also structural disparities.
