Films for sheet lamination
This chapter describes two types of polymer materials used in the sheet lamination process. It is primarily PVC which unfortunately despite good properties and easy preparation in the form of film/foil/plate, which is needed for sheet lamination, has not experienced much application and after Solido Ltd. did not develop more 3D printers, the development and application of PVC as a material in the SHL process was stopped. The second polymer material described in this chapter is a composite with thermoplastic matrix reinforced with different types of fibers in the form of prepreg that is primarily developed for the purposes of the SHL process to improve the properties of a product made of a one-component polymer material. The mechanical properties of products made with prepregs can be further increased because in the SHL process each layer can be rotated which allows achieving customized layup sequence. For each material, the specifics of the material and its connection with process, properties and their application are described.
