The correlation of several kidney function parameters with clinical severity and prognosis of acute myocardial infarction
A history of renal insufficiency or increased creatinine level on hospital admission is associated with poor outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is a more accurate measure of renal function and identifies patients with mild renal impairment despite normal or nearly normal creatinine levels. Finally, eGFR is a powerful predictor of outcome in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) and is more useful for this purpose than serum creatinine.
