Flora i vegetacija u Malostonskom zaljevu

Some of the areas on the east coast of the Adriatic have, at least thus far, managed to resist the negative influence of humans and preserve their centuries-old natural features. These certainly include the Mali Ston Bay. The Bay is located in the Mediterranean region, the Eastern Mediterranean subregion, the Adriatic province and the Epiro- Dalmatian sector. According to the Bioclimatic Classification of Europe, the Mali Ston Bay belongs to the Mediterranean pluviseason-oceanic bioclimate, and it is located within the lower mesomediterranean belt. The surface area of the special reserve is 48.4 km2. In the Mali Ston Bay, 36 plant associations, two subassociations, and two stands were identified and classified in 23 alliances, 22 orders, and 20 vegetation classes. Ruderal and weed plant communities, i.e. those that occur on arable land, in vineyards and olive groves, along roads, in landfills, etc. should also be included, but they have not yet been sufficiently or at all researched.
