Globalization and Croatian Foreign Trade
Intensification of globalization processes in the beginning of 21st century sets new demands on the less developed countries and countries in transition. Those demands are mainly focused on the maximization of the positive and minimization of the negative effects of globalization. Since globalization has influenced the significant trade liberalization and regional integration, this paper focuses on the achievements and problems in Croatian trade integration and performance. Our analysis shows that Croatia has fulfilled all necessary formal preconditions to be fully integrated in the multilateral trading system and regional integration processes. Nevertheless, the gains of liberalized and open trade policy would be reached only if Croatia succeeds to restructure its industry towards high value-added sectors and diversity its exports.
