Assessing Comfort-Related Properties of Sportswear Materials

The investigation of comfort-related parameters of materials used for sportswear is of extreme importance for the optimal performance of an athlete. The ever-going mission of textile scientists is to make further improvements to the material design in order to increase and maintain optimal comfort during intensive sports activities, especially if the activity is performed in hot or cold environmental conditions. The intention of the research presented is to investigate important material properties related to comfort, i.e., heat resistance and moisture management. In the experimental part are performed measurements on a set of textile materials used for the sportswear making. For the measurements are used the sweating guarded hotplate (SGHP) and moisture management tester (MMT). The results are discussed and recommendations for design improvement are given.
