P73 - Assessment of different CT simulators used in radiotherapy treatment planning: regional multicentric study
Results: Field size differences were below 1 mm for all applicators and energies, except for the 2 cm applicator (the smallest one), for which the array error was 5 mm. The penumbrae were systematically larger (differences ranging from 1.6 mm to 4.1 mm) when measured using Starcheck. The symmetry values measured with the array agreed for applicators greater than 6 cm. Conclusions: The Starcheck array is suitable for the profile analysis of low-energy x-ray units with some limitations. The lower resolution of the matrix against films results in a smoothing of all profiles (figure). This effect increases when the applicator size decreases. It affects the values of the penumbra and the symmetry but not the field size except for the 2 cm applicator. Still, it can be used for constancy checks if properly referenced to films.
