Observing the energy transition through the focus of Croatian energy strategy, UN Climate report, Paris agreement and other documents it is evident that RES provide a solution to the challenges we are currently facing and present a sustainable path forward. Solar energy has a dominant role in this process. Croatia has, so far, failed to substantially increase its installed solar power capacity. This needs to change and is going to change. The interest is evident and the premium model is also here to support and enable successful project development. Croatia possesses the required expertise and knowledge to develop different solar projects, many being innovative and smart. In all the above mentioned, still, one of the key aspects is the capability of the power system to integrate and allow the substantial production of RES electricity. There are certain changes required, both technical and legislative, to increase this level of RES integration and allow the fulfilment of Croatian strategic development goals and overall increase of social welfare.
