Role of human resources in increasing competitivness of hotel

Hotel as the representative of travel offers, should give great importance to its employees who, by performing business processes, affect the quality of products and services as well as competitiveness of the tourism market. Employees in the hotel business have a key role since they should be available to the guests throughout the day, since these do not stay for a couple of hours, but, in most cases, a few days. In this period the customer has time to evaluate the work and expertise of employees and based on that make a decision whether to again stay at this hotel. Depending on the category of the hotel managers should employ people with necessary education, knowledge, skills, and should – if there is need for it – gradually specialise them. Due to rapid obsolescence of knowledge and skills and the impact of globalization and rapid economic changes in the environment, Croatia has to realize the importance of investing in quality educational system, which will produce staff that conduct better, more professional and efficient business processes which affect the overall quality and increase competitiveness in the market for hotel companies.
