Sažetak
Biological activity, toxicity, carcinogenicity and therapeutic uses of silicate materials have been studied for decades. However, the mechanism of biological activity of such materials is stil unknown. In this review manuscript, based on recent experimental data we propose that silicate materials act as auperantigens. Alternative mechanisms of action are also discussed.
