The efficiency of few fungicides in control of more important soybean diseases at the Eastern Croatia

Objectives: The main objective of this work was to determine the occurrence and intensity of attack by the most important fungi causing diseases in soybean and to investigate the effect of some fungicides on their control. Material and methods: This study was involved investigation the occurrence and intensity of attack by principal fungus agents of soybean diseases and effect of 5 fungicides (Tab. 1) on their control, through exact field experiments in Osijek during 1994-1996 on the soybean cv. Lika (I maturity group). Prior to planting, the seed was tested with the following fungicides: Benit (imazalil), Apron (metalaxyl), Vitavax (karboksin) and during the growing period of soybeans (R3-R4) with Impact-C (karbendazim) and Benlate (benomyl). Estimation were given by visually observation in field or from average sample in lab with direct check up under stereo microscope (16x). Results and discussion: The evaluation of soybean during the growing period and laboratory analyses was revealed mycoflora whose occurrence and incidence are given in Tab. 2. principal diseases were Peronospora manshurica, Cercospora kikuchii, Diaporthe/Phomopsis complex and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in humid year. The intensity of attack by these parasites was varied across years. Cv. Lika is very sensitive on diseases P. manshurica and more resistance to Diaporthe/Phomopsis complex and other diseases. Tested fungicides were given positive effects on control to the present diseases. Soybean yields in the trials were always higher on the treated plots than on the check plot. These results square with the results obtained by Jurković and Vratarić, 1986;Vratarić et al. 1991. Conclusion and perspectives: Applicated fungicides are positively affected on their control due to control with some differences. Varied tolerance towards the some disease agent, the frequency of parasity and their aggressiveness were varied from year to year, what indicate that diseases control very complex. Experiments are continue in other conditions and expanded on more cultivars and more fungicides.
