Intercultural Dimension of Education and Religious Education in Schools in Europe: Comparison of Three Countries
The article examines the relationship between Religious Education in schools and the intercultural dimension of education using as an example and comparing the following three countries: Sweden, the German federal states of Baden-Württemberg and the Republic of Croatia. Based on data on the religious affiliation of the population and the impact of migration on the changes in the religious composition of the population of each of the three countries, the legal frameworks of Religious Education and related curricula are analysed, especially those related to promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue, embracing diversity, combating xenophobia and promoting social cohesion and peace. The consequences and significance of current changes and trends for the training of Religious Education teachers are also questioned in relation to the Republic of Croatia.
