Immune response on surgical stress in spinal and general anaesthesia
Stress is the systemic response to fracture and surgical injury and is characterized by activation of the sympathetic nervous system, endocrine responses as well as immunological and haematological changes. Spinal analgesia administered before the pain stimulus or surgical injury, prevents harmful central nervous system response and inflammation as an early consequence of operation as well Neuroinflammation is believed to have a role in the pathogenesis on postoperative delirium /confusion and postoperative cognitive dysfunction
