Prositi pomoĉi svetihь. Votive Masses in Glagolitic Missals
The Votive Masses in the Roman Liturgy present a supplement to the Temporal Sanctoral cycle through which the Church prays for various necessities. Medieval Roman Liturgy contained over sixty Mass Formularies for the Votive Masses. One of them stands out by its textual tradition and antiquity, the Mass ad poscenda suffragia sanctorum. In the Glagolitic liturgical tradition, this Mass Formulary was named Prositi pomoĉi svetihь. Textual tradition in Glagolitic liturgical manuscripts dates from the 11th century and spreads through Croatian Glagolitic Missals. In this paper, we made interdisciplinary research of the text and tradition of the Mass Formulary Prositi pomoĉi svetihь in the Latin and Old Church Slavonic liturgical books. This research is part of the research within the project of Croatian Science Foundation: "Interdisciplinary approach to the Croatian Glagolitic Missal on the example of the Missal of Duke Novak (IP-2019-04-3797) which is implemented on Old Church Slavonic Institute in Zagreb.
